North Dakota State transfer offensive lineman Trent Fraley, a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-American, has committed to Michigan State. Pete Nakos of On3 was the first to report.

Fraley visited Michigan State on Jan. 5 and Jan. 6. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

He spent two seasons at North Dakota State (2024 and 2025) and two seasons at Marshall (2022 and 2023) throughout his college career thus far.

In 2025, Fraley played 725 offensive snaps at the center position in 13 games, and allowed just one sack on the season, according to Pro Football Focus. He earned a strong pass-blocking grade of 85.6 and a run-blocking grade of 68.7, per PFF. Fraley earned All-America honors from the FCS Athletic Directors Association for the 2025 campaign.

Fraley, a Moon Township, Pennsylvania native, was also recently named as the Rimington Award winner for the FCS level, which is given annually to the top center in America at various levels of college football.

During the 2024 season, Fraley helped to lead the Bison to an FCS national championship. He started all 16 games for North Dakota State and played 984 snaps. Fraley earned MVFC All-Newcomer Team honors and received several academic awards as well.

In 2023 as a redshirt freshman at Marshall, Fraley appeared in three games on special teams, and played in the Frisco Bowl. He redshirted as a true freshman in 2022 and played in one game for the Thundering Herd.

The 6-foot-1, 303-pound Fraley most likely projects as a center for the Spartans. At Michigan State, he will play under head coach Pat Fitzgerald, offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan, offensive line coach Nick Tabacca and the rest of MSU's newly-hired staff.

Penn State, Florida State, Iowa State and other schools were also pursuing Fraley out of the transfer portal.

Of note, Fraley is the son of Hank Fraley, who currently serves as the offensive line coach and run game for the Detroit Lions, and played several seasons in the NFL.

Trent Fraley joins UConn transfer offensive tackle Ben Murawski and South Carolina transfer offensive guard Nick Sharpe as offensive line transfer portal commits for Michigan State thus far. In total, Michigan State has received 12 public transfer portal commitments as of press time, with UConn transfer running back Cam Edwards announcing his pledge to the Spartans shortly after Fraley. MSU is expected to add multiple additional transfer portal commitments soon.
