Michigan State continues to retool its special teams units under head coach Pat Fitzgerald and assistant head coach/special teams coordinator LeVar Woods. The latest commitment comes from Northern Arizona transfer punter Alex Weeks.

Of note, Weeks played under new MSU assistant special teams coach Josh Robinson at Northern Arizona, as Robinson most recently served as special teams coordinator for the Lumberjacks.

The 6-foot-3, 165-pound Weeks played in one game as a true freshman for the Lumberjacks in 2025. He recorded five kickoff for 248 yards in his collegiate debut at Portland State on Sept. 27, 2025. NAU won that contest by a final score of 31-17.

After redshirting in 2025, Weeks will still have four years of eligibility remaining.

Weeks will join All-Big Ten punter Rhys Dakin on MSU's 2026 roster. Dakin previously played under Woods at Iowa.

Additionally, MSU has added kickers Liam Boyd (Charlotte transfer) and Stephen Gonzales (2026 commit), kick return specialist/running back Kenneth Williams (Nebraska transfer), and long snappers Nick Duzansky (Oregon transfer) and Trey Serauskis (2026 commit) to its 2026 specialists room.

Weeks was listed as a five-star punter prospect in the class out of 2025, and ranked as the No. 15 punter in the country, according to Chris Sailer Kicking.

Here is what Chris Sailer Kicking's player review about Weeks said:

"Alex is a very talented high school kicking and punting prospect. He is big, tall, strong and athletic. Alex does a great job on field goal. He gets the ball up well off the ground and has 55+ yard range. His kickoffs are strong. He drives the ball into the end zone with 3.9+ hang time. Alex is also a top national punting prospect. He has big time potential in this area of his game. Alex has a D1 frame and hits a D1 ball. A competitor who does well under pressure. He is a fine young man who is always a great pleasure to work with. Alex is well on his way. He might be the biggest sleeper in the Class of 2025. Excellent combo prospect. OFFER NOW!!! Great pick up for Northern Arizona."
