Michigan State has lost the commitment of 2026 three-star EDGE/defensive end Fameitau Siale. According to 247Sports' Brandon Huffman, Siale flipped to Utah during the first day of the early signing period on Wednesday. He is expected to sign with the Utes.

Siale, who currently attends O'Dea High School in Seattle, originally committed to MSU on June 15.

This is a significant loss for the Spartans' 2026 class given that Siale is a talented player at a position of need at defensive end, but losses in Michigan State's recruiting class should not be surprising.

MSU fired former head coach Jonathan Smith on Sunday, Nov. 30 and announced the hiring of new head coach Pat Fitzgerald on Monday, Dec. 1. With that change in leadership brings uncertainty with the current coaching staff. Siale was close with defensive line coach Legi Suiaunoa. It is currently unclear whether or not Fitzgerad will retain Suiaunoa on his staff, but Siale felt it was best for his future to play at Utah.

According to the Rivals Industry rankings, Siale ranks as the No. 654 overall prospect, No. 69 EDGE and No. 4 player in the state of Washington. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 656 overall recruit, No. 65 EDGE and No. 4 player in Washington.

Siale collected an impressive list of scholarship offers. In addition to MSU and Utah, he had offers from Oregon, Washington, Penn State, Miami (FL.), Florida State, Arizona State, California, Louisville, Oregon State, Vanderbilt, Washington State, West Virginia and others

When the uncertainty regarding Smith's future in East Lansing started to arise, several prospects began to waver with their commitments to MSU. Other prospects who have recently decommitted from Michigan State include four-star wide receiver Tyren Wortham, four-star linebacker Braylon Hodge, three-star offensive lineman Quinn Buckey, three-star safety Jordan Vann and three-star defensive tackle Christopher Knauls Jr.

Still, many of the commitments from MSU's 2026 class have signed with the Spartans on Wednesday, or plan to this week. Track all of Michigan State's signings here.
