Pat Fitzgerald has secured his first commitment of the transfer portal as head coach of Michigan State, as UConn offensive tackle Ben Murawski has committed to the Spartans on Sunday, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.

The 6-foot-7, 335-pound Murawski visited MSU on Saturday, Jan. 3 and left as a Spartan pledge. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

In 2025, Murawski played in 12 games for UConn. According to Pro Football Focus, he played 773 offensive snaps and recorded the third-highest run-blocking grades in the country (86.3). In 2024, he appeared in six games and played 355 offensive snaps. In 2023, he appeared in seven games and played 62 offensive snaps for the Huskies.

In 2025, the Huskies, averaged 160.8 rushing yards per game. Murawski helped lead the way for UConn running back Cam Edwards, who rushed for 1,132 yards and 14 touchdowns. Edwards will also visit Michigan State on Jan. 5, he tells Spartans Illustrated.

Now, Murawski will finish out his college career under the tutelage of Fitzgerald, offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan, offensive line coach Nick Tabacca and the rest of the Spartans' new staff.

Murawski is considered as the No. 156 overall transfer portal prospect and No. 9 offensive tackle in the 2026 cycle, according to 247Sports. He was a two-star recruit in the class of 2022 out of St. Thomas More School in Connecticut.

MSU is expected to host multiple additional offensive linemen on visits in January, and will look to add several more to its 2026 roster.
