Sun Devils burn Bearcats, 82-68 behind Odum's 33 points
Bearcats lose second game of the Arizona road trip
The Cincinnati Bearcats capped off their second game of their Arizona road trip in Tempe against the Arizona State Sun Devils. They both come into the game 10-9, looking to make a move in the Big 12 standings. Would the Bearcats be able to get back on the winning side of things?
In the first half it went back and forth as each team made runs. The Bearcats were led by Baba Miller who had 14 points on 6-of-8 from the field. He played with aggression the whole first half, but he watched by Arizona State’s Moe Odum who had 17 points on 6-of-9 from the field and four assists. The Bearcats won the glass 17-14, but loss the turnover battle 10-5 which is a main reason the were down 37-33 at the half despite shooting 58.3% from the field. Keyshawn Tillery had a nice half, but was saddled with two fouls. Moustapha Thiam had nine points, three rebounds and two blocks.
In the second half the Bearcats couldn’t stop Odum and his crew as Pig Johnson scored six of his 11 points. Odum finished with 33 points and eight assists. After cutting lead to 3, Odum hit back to back 3’s and the Bearcats never got close again despite Miller’s 23 points and nine rebounds.
Jizzle James, Day Day Thomas and Sencire Harris only finished with a combined 14 points (Thomas didn’t score).
Thiam was the only other player in double digits with 15, after a nice showing against Arizona Shon Abaev only played three minutes against Arizona State.
After losing 82-68, the Bearcats are 10-10 overall and 2-5 in the Big 12 with Baylor coming to Fifth Third Arena on Wednesday at 6:30 pm.
