Key Takeaways: Cincinnati 62 Western Carolina 10
Key takeaways, notes, and stats from Cincinnati's 62-10 win over Western Carolina
By Ryan Roberts
Cincinnati did exactly what it needed to do Saturday night at Nippert Stadium, rolling past Western Carolina 62-10 behind an explosive rushing attack, an extremely efficient performance from quarterback JC French and a defense that found its footing after a competitive first half.
The Bearcats finished with 690 total yards, including 418 on the ground, and scored 48 unanswered points after Western Carolina briefly pulled within four points in the second quarter. Head coach Scott Satterfield called the offense “outstanding” in the first half, but the way Cincinnati closed the second quarter ultimately became the turning point that shaped the remainder of the game.
