Yesterday, it was reported that Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby was entering a gambling rehab program. Sorsby transferred from Cincinnati to Texas Tech this winter, reportedly netting over $5 million in NIL from Texas Tech. In leaving Clifton he was in breach of previous contract with Cincinnati which led to the University suing for $1 million dollars which was stated to be owed if he tranferred out before the agreement was completed.

Now, yesterday happens and you think why does Cincinnati care beyond getting their $1 million that's owed? Well now Matt Hayes of USA Today has reported that the Cincinnati Bearcats athletic department was alerted in August that Sorsby was gambling prior to the 2025 season. With this new knowledge Cincinnati could face backlash if proven true. As for Sorsby, I don't currently know how this ends for him, I hope the rehab helps him with his demons, but he might not be able to play college football again, also he could possibly declare for the NFL Supplemental draft this year if given clearance, if not he will have to wait until 2027, where he was once labeled as one of the top quarterbacks in the draft. This situation may cost Sorsby over $25 million, if you think of the plummet this can do to his stock.

As we get more news on how this will effect Cincinnati we will update the masses!
