Breaking: Bearcats fire HC Wes Miller after fifth season with the program
Cincinnati Head coach Wes Miller fired after fifth season
The Cincinnati Bearcats have parted ways with head coach Wes Miller. Miller has been with the program for five seasons, helped build a culture that was inviting to the former players, but didn’t have the success most envisioned.
This season, he went 18-15 recently losing to UCF in OT in the Big 12 Tournament after having an 8 point lead with two minutes remaining in regulation.
During his tenure the Bearcats were 100-74, 23-33 in the Big 12, with no NCAA Tournament appearances. At the end that was his undoing no big dance appearances in five years and the fans started to turn on Miller.
He had big wins this year versus Iowa State, Kansas and BYU, but his losses to Eastern Michigan, Xavier and West Virginia hurt his all or nothing season.
The question will be how will the buyout work for Miller as the amount will go down from $9.9 million to $4.69 million on April 1st.
TFON wishes Miller and staff nothing but the best at their next stop, but now the administration has to see who will be next to lead the program.
Note: Athletic Director John Cunningham states a nationwide coach will start immediately.
