By J.T. Smith

Today, Cincinnati Bearcats redshirt sophomore running back Manny Covey has entered the transfer portal. Covey was the Bearcats offensive MVP in the Liberty Bowl against Navy and stated after the game he was excited to return next season. The Bearcats added Notre Dame running back Gi'Bran Payne and Stanford running back Cole Tabb in the portal. They also have freshman Zion Johnson and redshirt freshman Jakorian Caffey in the mix, maybe with the new additions Covey decided Cincinnati wasn't the place for him.

The 5'11", 192 pound running back from Starks, Florida will have two years of eligibility remaining.

He had 198 yards on 28 carries for a 7.1 yards per carry average and a touchdown, as well as eight catches for 82 yards. He had 16 punt returns for 156 yards with a long of 57 yards.

Covey is a big play duel threat back that can make plays in the return game as well.
