BOULDER, Colo. – Arizona State men’s basketball (12-11, 3-7) finishes its mountain trip tonight at 7:30 pm Arizona time with a rematch against Colorado (13-10, 3-7). 

This is the second meeting between the two schools this year, as Colorado came away victorious in Tempe on Jan 3, winning 95-89. The Buffaloes were led by a trio of scorers, including freshman guard Isaiah Johnson (19 points), junior guard Barrington Hargress (17 points) and sophomore forward Sebastian Rancik (18 points).

The Sun Devils had three players eclipse the 20-point mark in the loss: Moe Odum, Massamba Diop and Anthony (Pig) Johnson. 

Now the Sun Devils have a chance to get revenge and secure a key victory in a brutal Big 12 conference.

Arizona State Update: The Sun Devils are coming off a wire-to-wire road victory against Utah. Despite missing several players due to injuries, ASU is playing some of its best basketball of the season in the last four games. They’re 2-2 in their last four, but their two losses were narrow losses, one on the road to UCF and the other at home to Arizona.

It is based on adjusted offensive efficiency and adjusted defensive efficiency. 100 is perfect, and 0 is terrible, in simple terms. ASU’s average gamescore in the last four games has been 91.25. To put that in perspective, that level of play throughout the season would rank ASU as the No. 28 overall team in the country, just ahead of North Carolina and BYU.

That’s a paragraph of data to essentially claim that the Sun Devils have been playing some of their best basketball of the season, and are looking to continue that tonight.

Colorado Update: Colorado has been sliding, going 1-7 in their last eight games after starting the season 12-3. The defense has been a major issue, giving up 70+ points in every one of those seven losses. 

They have one of the worst three-point defenses in college basketball, allowing opponents to shoot 37% from deep, No. 326 in college hoops.
