Recruit Reactions: Newly-hired MSU head coach Pat Fitzgerald sends out first batch of offers
Hear from multiples prospects who have been offered or re-offered by Michigan State State head coach Pat Fitzgerald thus far.
Newly-hired Michigan State head football coach Pat Fitzgerald ("Coach Fitz") has sent out scholarship offers or re-offers to nine known high school prospects thus far. All of these recruits in the early batch of offers are class of 2027 players from the state of Michigan.
The 2027 prospects who have knowingly received an offer from Fitzgerald so far include four-star wide receiver Dakota Guerrant (re-offer), four-star EDGE Myles Smith, four-star offensive tackle Jakari Lipsey, three-star wide receiver Chad Willis (re-offer), three-star wide receiver Charles "Tre" Britton (re-offer), three-star wide receiver Don Spillers III (re-offer), three-star athlete Darryl Flemister (re-offer) and athlete Lundon Hampton.
Update: 2027 three-star Utah wide receiver/athlete Brawley Tuitupou also received an offer from MSU's newly-retained wide receivers coach, Courtney Hawkins, on Dec. 23.
Spartans Illustarted caught up with a few of these recruits to get their reactions following their offers from Michigan State under the new regime.
Four-star wide receiver Chad Willis:
Willis, who helped lead Orchard Lake St. Mary's Prep to its second consecutive state championship this past season, ranks as a top-10 player in the state of Michigan. Cincinnati, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin and several additional programs have also offered him.
He was offered by the previous Michigan State staff under Jonathan Smith. Fitzgerald immediately made Willis a priority, and quickly re-offed him directly. Here is what Willis and others had to say about it:
