It is an exciting time for the Michigan State football program, as the Spartans opened spring practices on Tuesday. The opening of spring ball also means that many recruits will visit East Lansing throughout the months of March and April. There was a large number of prospects in attendance for MSU's first day of practice on Tuesday and a few more who were there on Thursday to watch the Spartans work.

It was a successful week on the recruiting trail for head coach Pat Fitzgerald and his staff, as the Spartans earned commitments from two priority targets in three-star Ohio quarterback Eli Stumpf and three-star in-state offensive tackle Jack Carlson. Both prospects made a visit to East Lansing on Tuesday and left campus as future Spartans.

Spartans Illustrated spoke to multiple recruits who were there to watch MSU open spring ball throughout the week. Common themes that stood out to these high school players were the energy level, the coaching and the camaraderie the team is already showing despite having many new players on the roster.

Below, read thoughts and reactions from several visitors.
