Michigan State had its first junior day recruiting event under newly-hired head coach Pat Fitzgerald ("Coach Fitz") over the weekend, and brought several recruits — with a clear emphasis on prospects from the state of Michigan and Midwest region — on Friday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 24.

The weekend was successful, as the Spartans earned a commitment from 2027 three-star Ohio running back Savior Owens, and it put MSU in a strong position with several other targets who made it to campus.

On Friday, the recruits watched the Spartan hockey team defeat Minnesota by a final score of 3-1. Saturday's batch of visitors got to witness the MSU men's basketball team dominate Maryland by a final score of 91-48. Of course, there was also plenty of time for the prospects to check out the facilities, spend quality time with the coaches, talk to current players and much more.

Following their visits, Spartans Illustrated caught up with several prospects who made their way to East Lansing this past weekend. Below, in no particular order, we provide responses from the student-athletes pertaining to their experiences at Michigan State.

2027 three-star OT Jack Carlson (Brighton, Michigan):

Carlson visited Michigan State on Friday and was re-offered by the new MSU coaching staff during the trip. He discussed several topics with Spartans Illustrated.
