Michigan State head coach Pat Fitzgerald has promoted Andrew Bindelglass to rush ends coach, sources tell Spartans Illustrated.  He has also updated his bio on X (formerly Twitter) to reflect his new coaching role.

Bindelglass is expected to work closely with newly-hired defensive line coach Winston DeLattiboudere III. Bindelglass and DeLattiboudere previously worked together at Minnesota in 2023. Sources tell Spartans Illustrated that Bindelglass and DeLattiboudere will coach together often to teach the fundamentals, but will also meet with and work with their positional players separately at times based on the different jobs the players have,

Bindelglass most recently worked as MSU;s assistant linebackers coach under head coach Jonathan Smith and defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Joe Rossi in 2025. Fitzgerald also retained Rossi on his 2026 staff, but he will now serve solely as defensive coordinator. Max Bullough was recently hired by the Spartans as the program’s new co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

In 2024, Bindelglass worked as a defensive analyst for the Spartans.

Chad Wilt served as MSU's co-special teams coordinator and rush ends coach under Smith and Rossi in 2024 and 2025. Wilt was not retained by Fitzgerald. He is expected to be hired as Kentucky's linebackers coach.

Prior to MSU, Bindelglass worked with Rossi for five seasons at Minnesota. He was a defensive graduate assistant from 2019 through 2021, and then moved up to a defensive quality control posiiton in 2022 and 2023). During that span, the Golden Gophers' defense ranked among the top-10 in the FBS in total defense on three separate occassions (No. 3 in 2021, No. 8 in 2022 and No. 10 in 2019) and in scoring defense twice (No. 4 in 2022 and No. 6 in 2021).

Before arriving to Minneapolis for the 2019 season, Bindelglass briefly worked at Bryant University as an outside linebackers coach through winter workouts and spring practices in early 2019. Bindelglass served as a defensive quality control coach at Holy Cross during the 2018 season.

Prior to Holy Cross, Bindelglass served as the assistant secondary coach at his alma mater, Tufts University (Division III) in Massachusetts. In addition to working with the defensive backs for the Jumbos, Bindelglass was also the director of alumni relations and the video coordinator for the program.

As a player, Bindelglass played cornerback at Tufts and was also a student assistant coach before transitioning into a full-time coaching role. He graduated in 2017 with a degree in political science.

Fitzgerald recently finalized his on-field coaching staff for 2026. Read more about Michigan State's full 2026 coaching staff here.
