Michigan State men's basketball got its 2026 class started with a bang, landing four-star point guard Carlos Medlock Jr. back in July and four-star power forward Julius Avent in October. However, the fireworks haven’t stopped, as 2026 four-star shooting guard and priority target Jasiah Jervis has now also given his pledge to Tom Izzo and the Spartans.

Jervis announced his decision on Wednesday, and chose the Spartans over fellow finalists North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Illinois.

The 6-foot-5 guard out of Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, New York ranks as the No. 22 prospect overall, the No. 5 shooting guard and the No. 4 player in the state of New York in the 2026 class, according to Rivals individual rankings. He also ranks as a top-40 recruit nationally in both the Rivals Industry rankings and the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Izzo and his staff made Jervis a high priority, offering him back on June 28. Jervis had a fantastic summer and has been skyrocketing up the class rankings. Getting Jervis on campus for an official visit for Michigan State’s “Grind Week” during the weekend of Sept. 5 proved to be a difference-maker as he got to see Spartan culture at its finest. Several former Spartan stars returned for the weekend, including Draymond Green, Mateen Cleaves, Jaren Jackson Jr., Xavier Tillman, Gary Harris, Jase Richardson, Jaden Akins and many, many others.

Jervis led the Crusaders in scoring as a junior, averaging 16.2 points per game. He also plays for the New York Renaissance on the AAU circuit.

Jervis’ recruitment was heavily contested as he had a top-eight of Michigan State, Texas, North Carolina State, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Oregon, Florida and Tennessee before cutting it down to the top-five mentioned above. He also had offers from Michigan, St. Johns and Wake Forest, amongst numerous others. Perhaps Michigan State’s biggest competition at times throughout the recruitment was NC State, as head coach Will Wade made a consistent effort to see Jervis and hosted him for an official visit on Aug. 28.

Jervis is a dynamic guard who can score at all three levels. He excels at creating off of the dribble and finishing through contact at the rim. His lengthy frame is the ideal fit for head coach Tom Izzo’s system that feasts off guards who can defend, rebound and get out and run in space.

With this commitment, Michigan State now has commitments from its top priorities at point guard, shooting guard and power forward in the 2026 class secured.

As far as the rest of the 2026, look for Michigan State to add to the front-court. Names to watch out for that MSU is pursuing hard include Ethan Taylor (who officially visit during the weekend of Oct. 3) and four-star small forward Maximo Adams (who officially visited during the weekend of Sept. 12). Taylor's decision could be coming soon, although a commitment date has not yet been specified.
