Michigan State football added a defensive asset with Southeast Missouri State transfer redshirt freshman EDGE/outside linebacker Trey Lisle. He announced his commitment to the Spartans via Instagram on Jan. 8.

In 2025, Lisle appeared in eight totals games for the Redhawks. He added 16 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and a half-of-sack. His transfer from SEMO as a redshirt freshman leaves him with three years of eligibility remaining with the Spartans.

According to Pro Football Focus, Lisle played 241 defensive snaps and record an overall defensive grade of 66.9 and a run defense grade of 72.9. Per PFF, Lisle lined up at multiple spots across the defensive line, including as several snaps as a defensive tackle and defensive end, but played 81 total snaps as a left outside linebacker or right outside linebacker.

In 2024 as a true freshman, Lisle transitioned to the outside linebacker spot after playing safety in high school. He redshirted with the Redhawks that season, and appeared in one game and recorded one tackle.

At Michigan State, Lisle will play under head coach Pat Fitzgerald, defensive coordinator Joe Rossi, co-defensive coordinators/linebackers coach Max Bullough, defensive line coach Winston DeLattiboudere III and the rest of the newly-hired MSU staff.

A talented recruit from Fayetteville High School in Arkansas, Lisle committed to Southeast Missouri State in 2023. As a high school senior, he earned All-State honors as a safety, registering over 90 tackles, 10 pass breakups, five interceptions and three forced fumbles.

Michigan State now has 17 public transfer portal commits, with more expected soon. Keep up with all of MSU's transfer portal movement here.
