Michigan State has lost the pledge of class of 2026 four-star wide receiver Tyren Wortham. He announced his decommitment from the Spartans on Monday.

Wortham, out of Booker High School in Sarasota, Florida, was the highest-ranked commit in the Spartans' 2026 class. He ranks as the No. 246 overall prospect, No. 42 wide receiver and No. 33 recruit in the state of Florida, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. Similarly in the 247Sports Composite rankings, Wortham checks in as the No. 246 overall prospect, No. 40 wide receiver and No. 33 player in the state of Florida.

Wortham committed to MSU on June 22, following his official visit to East Lansing. He was previously committed to Central Florida before the Spartans were able to flip his pledge.

In addition to Michigan State, Wortham took additional official visits to UCF, Georgia and Kansas State.

Following an impressive start to his senior season, more schools are entering the mix. Wortham took a visit to Florida State earlier this season. Sources tell Spartans Illustrated that Wortham has an official visit booked with Auburn, and that the schools in Florida (such as FSU and others) have entered the mix.

Michigan State still has two wide receiver commitments in four-star prospect Samson Gash and three-star prospect Zachary Washington. Sources tell Spartans Illustrated that MSU will continue to recruit Wortham, but it will be an uphill battle with the new schools (and previous schools after him still) now pursuing Wortham.

Michigan State's 2026 class now shrinks to 22 total pledges with preferred walk-on athlete Jack Lansing III, and 21 scholarship commitments.
