No.1 Spartan Hockey heads north for NMU throwback series
The Spartans travels to Marquette
Last week the Michigan State Spartans shipped out to Boston, ranked 3 or 4 depending on the poll you were using, and a week later they hit the ice again this weekend, now as the top ranked team in both polls, with a SportsCenter Top Play in their pocket from a thrilling series sweeping goal over the Boston University Terriers.
The transition from that series last weekend to hitting the road to play a former CCHA foe in Northern Michigan will be stark, and - to the possible benefit of the Spartans - this series is on the road in Marquette.
The atmosphere will be extremely charged as a top ranked team coming to Marquette really never happens in the current landscape of college hockey, not to mention a big two school visiting Marquette on the weekend of the Michigan State vs Michigan football game to boot.
You can be sure that avoiding a letdown has been highly emphasized at practice this week for the Spartans, who look to enter a bye week next week 5-1, with no blemishes from a letdown, as they rest and look ahead to a visit from Gavin McKenna and Penn State on November 7.
