Spring Practice/Spring Game Mega Breakdown

  1. QB: The deepest QB room in the country is in Eugene. The most talented QB room in the country is also in Eugene. We have arguably the best Starting QB in the sport in Moore, the best backup QB in the country in Raiola and the best 3rd string in Thomas. Pretty rare in today’s sport to have 3 QBs who have all played at this level. Raiola starts at half the schools in the country and Thomas is easily a MW/PAC-12 starter, including up north in sad beaver country. This is a special spot to be in.

Notes

  • ASJ has made huge strides in the last 15 months when it comes to his development mechanically. I thought there was never a chance he started a game at Oregon. I still would wager against that but I do think if he’s willing to stick it out, he’ll have a chance to compete

  • Raiola being ahead of schedule on his injury led to some really valuable practice and reps this spring. The plan is still to redshirt this fall, but it’s never been a physical issue for him so the more practice time he has the better. Consider his time in Oregon as a year-long tryout for the job in 2027. He will need to get his body right and become more agile as he gets healthier on the ankle.
